عن أَبي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه قال: أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم بِرجلٍ قَدْ شرِب خَمْرًا قال: «اضْرِبُوهُ» قال أَبُو هُرَيْرةَ: فمِنَّا الضَّارِبُ بِيَدِهِ والضَّارِبُ بِنَعْله، والضَّارِبُ بِثَوبِهِ. فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَال بعْضُ الْقَومِ: أَخْزاكَ اللّه، قال صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم: «لا تَقُولُوا هكَذا لا تُعِينُوا عليه الشَّيْطَان» رواه البخاري.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man who had drunk wine was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: "Strike him." Abu Hurayrah said: Some of us struck him with our hands, some with their sandals, and some with their garments. When the man left, some people said: "May Allah disgrace you!" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do not say that. Do not help the devil against him." Narrated by al-Bukhari.

أخزاك اللّه: أي أذلّك اللّه وأهانك.
"May Allah disgrace you" (akhzaka Allah): meaning may Allah humiliate and debase you.

الدعاء للعاصي بعد إقامة الحدّ عليه بالتوفيق للإقلاع التامّ عن المعصية والنجاة من الخذلان، وعدم الدعاء عليه لئلا يكون ذلك عونًا للشيطان عليه. أسلوب النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم في توجيه العصاة بعدم تعييرهم أو سبّهم، مما يجعل ذلك أدْعى لتحبيبهم في ترك المعاصي. وجوب الحدّ في شرب الخمر.
One should supplicate for the sinner after the prescribed punishment has been carried out, praying for his guidance to completely abandon the sin and for his salvation from failure — and one should not supplicate against him, lest that become an aid for the devil against him. The method of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in guiding sinners by not shaming or insulting them, which makes it more likely to endear them to abandoning sin. The prescribed punishment for drinking wine is obligatory.
