عَنْ أَبِي الدَّردَاءِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ كَانَ يقُولُ: «دَعْوةُ المَرْءِ المُسْلِمِ لأَخيهِ بِظَهْرِ الغَيْبِ مُسْتَجَابَةٌ؛ عِنْدَ رأْسِهِ ملَكٌ مُوكَّلٌ كُلَّمَا دَعَا لِأَخِيهِ بِخَيْرٍ قَالَ المَلَكُ المُوَكَّلُ بِهِ: آمِينَ، ولَكَ بمِثْلٍ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. At his head is an appointed angel; whenever he supplicates for his brother with good, the appointed angel says: 'Amin, and for you the like.'" Reported by Muslim.

Encouraging the Muslim to supplicate for his brother in his absence, whereupon the angel says "Amin" for him and he receives the like of what he supplicated for. "Amin": a verbal noun of command meaning "O Allah, answer."
