عَنْ أَبِي خِرَاشٍ حَدْرَدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَدْرَدٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، وَيُقَالُ: السُّلَمِيُّ الصَّحَابِيُّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ هَجَرَ أَخَاهُ سَنَةً فَهُوَ كَسَفْكِ دَمِهِ». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Abu Khirash Hadrad ibn Abi Hadrad al-Aslami — also said to be al-Sulami — the Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever shuns his brother for a year, it is like shedding his blood." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.

كسفك دمه: أي فكأنّما أراق دمه عدوانًا.
"Like shedding his blood": that is, it is as though he spilled his blood in aggression.
