عَنْ أبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي اللّه عَنْهُ عَنِ النبيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «اجْتَنِبُوا السَّبْعَ المُوبِقَاتِ» قَالُوا: يَا رسُولَ اللّهِ وَمَا هُنَّ؟ قَالَ: «الشِّرْكُ بِاللّهِ، السِّحْرُ، وَقَتْلُ النَّفْسِ التي حرَّمَ اللّه إلّا بِالْحَقِّ، وَأَكْلُ الرِّبَا، وَأكْلُ مَالِ اليتيم، والتَّوَلِّي يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ، وقَذفُ المُحْصنَات المُؤمِناتِ الْغَافِلات» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Avoid the seven destructive sins." They said: O Messenger of Allah, what are they? He said: "Associating partners with Allah (shirk); sorcery; killing a soul that Allah has made inviolable, except by right; consuming usury (riba); consuming the property of an orphan; fleeing on the day of battle; and slandering chaste, believing, unaware women." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

الموبقات: المهلكات. التولي يوم الزحف: الهرب من المعركة والحرب. قذف المحصنات: رمي العفيفات واتهامهن بالزنى. الغافلات: أي الغافلات عن الفاحشة التي اتهمن بها لأنّهن بريئات منها.
"Al-mubiqat (the destructive sins)": the ruinous [deeds]. "Fleeing on the day of battle (al-tawalli yawma al-zahf)": fleeing from the battle and the war. "Slandering chaste women (qadhf al-muhsanat)": accusing chaste women and charging them with fornication. "The unaware (al-ghafilat)": that is, those heedless of the indecency of which they are accused, because they are innocent of it.
