عن أبي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه عن النّبيّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «لَقَد رأَيْتُ رَجُلًا يَتَقَلَّبُ فِي الْجنَّةِ فِي شَجرةٍ قطَعها مِنْ ظَهْرِ الطَّريقِ كَانَتْ تُؤْذِي الْمُسلِمِينَ». رواه مسلم. • وفي رواية: «مرَّ رجُلٌ بِغُصْنِ شَجرةٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِ طرِيقٍ فَقَالَ: واللّهِ لَأُنَحِّيَنَّ هذا عنِ الْمسلِمِينَ لا يُؤْذِيهُمْ، فأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ». • وفي رواية لهما: «بيْنَما رجُلٌ يمْشِي بِطريقٍ وجدَ غُصْنَ شَوْكٍ علَى الطَّرِيقِ، فأخَّرَه فشَكَر اللّهُ لَهُ، فغَفر لَهُ».
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I have indeed seen a man enjoying himself in Paradise because of a tree he had cut from the middle of the road that used to harm the Muslims." Narrated by Muslim. In another narration: "A man passed by a branch of a tree lying across the road and said: 'By Allah, I will remove this from the Muslims so that it does not harm them,' and he was admitted into Paradise." In a narration by both (al-Bukhari and Muslim): "While a man was walking along a road, he found a thorny branch on the road, so he moved it aside. Allah thanked him for that and forgave him."
الشرح · explanation
يَتقلَّب: يتحوّل في الجنَّة من مكان لآخر يتنعّم بملاذِّها. في شجرة: بسبب شجرة. من ظَهر الطريق: أي عن الطريق. لَأنحِّيَنَّ: لَأزيلنَّ.
"Enjoying himself" (yataqallabu) means moving about in Paradise from one place to another, delighting in its pleasures. "Because of a tree" means on account of a tree. "From the middle of the road" means from the road. "I will remove" (la-unahiyyanna) means I will certainly clear it away.

فضل إزالة ما يؤذي الناس في طُرقاتهم، وأنّه سبب لدخول الجنّة. الحثّ على فعل كل ما ينفع المسلمين ويُبعد عنهم الضرر، ورُبّ عمل صغير عظَّمته النيّة. حرص الإسلام على المرافق العامّة ونظافتها والعناية بها كالطرقات والحدائق العامّة. دليل على أنّ الجنَّة موجودة الآن؛ لأنَّ النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم رأى هذا الرجل يتقلّب فيها. أنّ إزالة الأذى عن الطريق الحسِّيّ: طريق الأقدام، والطريق المعنَوِيّ: طريق القلوب، تُقرِّب إلى اللّه؛ لكن إزالة الأذى عن طريق القلوب، أعظم أجرًا، وأشدّ إلحاحًا من إزالة الأذى عن طريق الأقدام.
The merit of removing harmful objects from people's paths, and that it is a cause for entering Paradise. Encouragement to do everything that benefits Muslims and removes harm from them; many a small deed is made great by a sincere intention. Islam's concern for public facilities, their cleanliness, and their maintenance, such as roads and public parks. Evidence that Paradise exists now, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw this man enjoying himself within it. Removing harm from the physical road — the path of feet — and from the spiritual road — the path of hearts — both draw one closer to Allah. However, removing harm from the path of hearts carries greater reward and is more urgently needed than removing harm from the path of feet.
