عنْ أَبِي محمدٍ عبدِ اللًهِ بنِ عمرو بن العاص رضي اللّه عنهما قال: قال رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «أَرْبعُونَ خَصْلةً أَعلاها منِيحَةُ الْعَنْزِ، ما مِنْ عامِلٍ يعمَل بِخَصْلَةٍ مِنْها رجاءَ ثَوَابِهَا وتَصْدِيقَ موْعُودِهَا إِلّا أَدْخلَهُ اللّهُ بِهَا الْجنَّةَ» رواه البخاري.
Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "There are forty virtuous deeds, the highest of which is lending a she-goat for milking. No person who practices any one of them, hoping for its reward and trusting in the promise associated with it, except that Allah will admit him into Paradise on account of it." خَصلة: نوع من أنواع البِرِّ. الْمَنِيحة: هي ما يَمنح المسلم أخاه من عنزٍ أو شاةٍ أو ناقةٍ... على سبيل العارية لينتفع بلبنها زمانًا ثم يُعيدها. العنز: الأنثى من المعز. من عاملٍ: المقصود من مسلمٍ. مَوعُودِها: ما وعَد اللّه من الثواب.
"Virtuous deed" (khaslah) refers to a type of righteous act. "Lending" (manihah) refers to when a Muslim lends his brother a she-goat, sheep, or camel as a temporary loan so that he may benefit from its milk for a period and then return it. "She-goat" ('anz) refers to the female of the goat species. "No person" means no Muslim. "Its promise" (maw'udiha) refers to what Allah has promised in terms of reward.

فضل اللّه تعالى ورحمتُه بتكثيره أعمال الخير وتنويعها، وقبوله ما قلَّ منها وما صغرَ، كمنيحة العنز مع صدق النية والقصد. أنَّ هذا الأجرَ إن كان مترتِّبًا على منيحة العنزِ فما دونَها، فما الظَّنُّ بما هو أعظَمُ منها. ينبغي للمؤمن أن يجتهد في أنواع الخير وألّا يُحقّر شيئًا من المعروف ولو قليلًا.
The bounty and mercy of Allah, the Most High, in making the deeds of goodness numerous and varied, and in accepting what is small and minor among them — such as lending a she-goat for milking — provided the intention is sincere and the purpose genuine. If this reward is earned through lending a she-goat and what is below it in value, then what can be expected for deeds that are even greater? The believer should strive in performing various types of good deeds and should never belittle any act of kindness, however small.
