عن عمرَ بن الخطّاب رضي اللّه عنه قال: قال رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «منْ نَامَ عَنْ حِزْبِهِ مِنَ اللَّيْل، أَو عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ فَقَرأَه ما بينَ صلاةِ الْفَجرِ وَصـلاةِ الظهرِ، كُتبَ لَهُ كأَنَّمَا قرأَهُ مِن اللَّيْلِ» رواه مسلم.
Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever sleeps through his nightly portion of Quran recitation, or through part of it, and then recites it between the Fajr prayer and the Dhuhr prayer, it will be recorded for him as though he had recited it during the night." Narrated by Muslim.

حزبه: الحزب والوِرد هو مقدار يُلزِم الإنسان به نفسه من صلاة أو قراءة أو غيرها. قرأه: أي أتى به سواء كان تلاوة فقط أو كان صلاة ركعات مُعيَّنة، وعبَّر بالقراءة تغليبًا لها. كُتب له: أُثبت أجرُه في صحيفة عمله.
"His portion" (hizbihi) — a hizb or wird is a set amount that a person commits himself to from prayer, Quran recitation, or other acts of worship. "Recites it" means he performs it, whether it is recitation alone or a set number of prayer units. The expression uses "recitation" as a general term because it is the predominant element. "Recorded for him" means the reward is established in his record of deeds.

المحافظة على الأوراد من دأب الصالحين. أن من فاته ورده بعذر فأسرع لقضائه كان له ثوابه كاملًا كما لو أداه في وقته. هذه الفضيلة إنَّما تحصل لِمَن غلبه نوم أو عذر منعه من القيام به مع أن نيّته القيام به.
Maintaining regular devotional practices is the habit of the righteous. Whoever misses his regular devotional portion due to a legitimate excuse and promptly makes it up will receive the full reward as though he had performed it at its proper time. This virtue is granted only to one who is overcome by sleep or prevented by a valid excuse from performing his devotion, while his intention was to carry it out.
