عن جرير بن عبد اللّه رضي اللّه عنه قال: قال رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «مَنْ لا يرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لا يرْحمْهُ اللّه» متفقٌ عليه.
Jarir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah will not show mercy to him." Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

أن الرحمة مطلوبة لسائر المخلوقات حتى الدوابّ والبهائم، وإنّما خصّ الناس في هذا الحديث بالذكر اهتمامًا بهم. رحمة اللّه للنّاس بالرِّضا عنهم وإيصال النِّعم إليهم.
Mercy is required toward all creatures, even animals and livestock; people were singled out for mention in this hadith to emphasize their importance. Allah's mercy toward people is manifested through His being pleased with them and bestowing blessings upon them.
