عن عائشةَ رضي اللّه عنها قالت: قدِم ناسٌ مِن الأَعْرابِ عَلَى رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، فقالوا: أَتُقبِّلونَ صِبْيانَكُمْ؟ فقال: «نَعَمْ» قالوا: لَكِنَّا واللّه ما نُقَبِّلُ، فقال رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «أَوَأَمْلِكُ إِنْ كَانَ اللّه نَزعَ مِنْ قُلُوبِكُمُ الرَّحمَةَ» متفقٌ عليه.
'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Some Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked: "Do you kiss your children?" He said: "Yes." They said: "But by Allah, we never kiss them!" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Can I do anything if Allah has removed mercy from your hearts?" Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

الأعراب: هم سكان البادية ولا يقبِّلون الأطفال لما يغلب على طبعهم من الغِلظة والجفاء. الرحمة: هي التعطُّف والرِّقَّة.
The Bedouins (al-a'rab): they are the dwellers of the desert, and they do not kiss children due to the harshness and roughness that typically characterizes their nature. Mercy (al-rahmah): tenderness and compassion.
