عن أبي خالدٍ حكيمِ بنِ حزَامٍ رضِيَ اللّهُ عنه، قال: قال رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «الْبَيِّعَانِ بالخِيَارِ ما لم يَتفرَّقا، فإِن صدقَا وبيَّنا بوُرِك لهُما في بَيْعِهِما، وإِن كذَبَا وكَتَما مُحِقَتْ بركةُ بَيْعِهِما» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Khalid Hakim ibn Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The buyer and seller have the option to cancel or confirm the transaction as long as they have not separated. If they are truthful and transparent, their transaction will be blessed for them. But if they lie and conceal defects, the blessing of their transaction will be erased." Agreed upon (narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

البيِّعان: هما البائع والمشتري. بالخِيار: اسم من الاختيار والتخيير، وهو طلب خير الأمرين من الفسخ والإجازة، وهذا ما يُسمَّى خِيارَ المجْلس. فإن صدقا: أي فيما يخبران به، البائع في البيع والمشتري في الثمن. وبيَّنا: أظهر البائع والمشتري ما في المبيع والثمن من عيب ونحوه. بورك لهما: أي في بيعهما وشرائهما، وذلك بكثرة الخير والبركة، وتسهيل الأسباب المفضية لزيادة الربح. كتما: أخفيا ما في السلعة والثمن من العيوب. محقت بركة بيعهما: ذهبت، فلم يحصلا إلا على مجرد التعب.
Al-Bayyi'an: the buyer and the seller. Bil-Khiyar: derived from choice or selection, meaning the right to choose the better of two options -- cancellation or confirmation. This is known as khiyar al-majlis (the option of the session). Fa in sadaqa: meaning if they are truthful in what they report -- the seller about the merchandise and the buyer about the price. Wa bayyanna: the seller and buyer disclose any defects in the merchandise and price. Burika lahuma: meaning their trade and purchase are blessed with abundance, goodness, and facilitation of means leading to increased profit. Katama: they concealed defects in the merchandise and price. Muhiqat barakatu bay'ihima: it is wiped out, so they obtain nothing but mere toil.

ثبوت خيار المجلس للمتبايعين. وجوب إظهار العيب في السلعة وحرمة إخفائها، فإذا ظهر العيب كان له الخيار في فسخ البيع بشروط ذكرها الفقهاء. الكذب سببٌ لمحقِ البركة.
Affirmation of the option of the session (khiyar al-majlis) for both parties in a transaction. It is obligatory to disclose defects in merchandise and it is forbidden to conceal them. If a defect appears, the buyer has the option to cancel the sale under conditions detailed by the jurists. Lying is a cause for the erasure of blessing.
