عَنْ أبي سَعيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رضي اللّه عنه عن النبيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «إنَّ الدُّنْيا حُلْوَةٌ خضِرَةٌ، وإنَّ اللّهَ مُسْتَخْلِفُكُمْ فِيهَا. فينْظُرُ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ، فَاتَّقوا الدُّنْيَا واتَّقُوا النِّسَاءِ. فَإِنَّ أَوَّلَ فِتْنةِ بَنِي إسْرَائيلَ كَانَتْ في النسَاء» رواه مسلم.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the world is sweet and green, and Allah has placed you as successors in it to see how you will act. So beware of the world and beware of women, for the first trial of the Children of Israel was through women." Narrated by Muslim.

حُلوة خضرة: أي تشبه في الميل إليها الفاكهة الحلوة في مذاقها، الزاهية في لونها. مستخلفكم: جعلكم خلفًا في الدنيا، يخلف بعضكم بعضًا في عمارتها. اتقوا الدنيا: احذروا الاغترار بها. اتقوا النساء: احذروا الافتتان بهن.
Hulwah khadirah: meaning it is likened, in its attractiveness, to fruit that is sweet in taste and radiant in color. Mustakhlifukum: He has made you successors in the world, succeeding one another in developing it. Ittaqu al-dunya: beware of being deceived by it. Ittaqu al-nisa': beware of being tempted by them.

الحذر من الافتتان بالنساء، وذلك بترك مباشرة الأسباب التي تثير كوامن الشهوة كالاختلاط بهنّ لغير حاجة ومشاهدتهنّ في الأفلام وغيرها، والحديث غير المنضبط معهنّ. قد يدخل في الحذر من فتنة النساء إذا كان سيقع بسببها في المحرّمات. الاتعاظ وأخذ العبرة من الأمم السابقة، فإن ما حصل لبني إسرائيل يحصل لغيرهم إذا تعاطوا أسبابه.
Beware of being tempted by women, by avoiding the means that arouse hidden desires, such as mingling with them without necessity, watching them in films and the like, and engaging in unrestrained conversation with them. This may include the warning against the trial of women when it will lead to committing prohibited acts. Taking admonition and drawing lessons from previous nations, for what befell the Children of Israel will befall others if they engage in the same causes.
