عن عَمْرِو بنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَن أَبيهِ، عن جَدِّه رضي اللهُ عنهم قال: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا، وَيَعْرِفْ شَرَفَ كَبِيرِنَا» حديثٌ صحيحٌ رواه أبو داود والترمذي، وقال الترمذي: حديثٌ حسنٌ صحيح. وفي رواية أبي داود «حَقَّ كَبِيرِنَا».

'Amr ibn Shu'ayb reported, on the authority of his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with them), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young and does not acknowledge the honour due to our elders." A sound (sahih) hadith reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi; al-Tirmidhi said: a hadith that is hasan sahih. In the narration of Abu Dawud: "the right of our elders."
