عن أَنسٍ رضيَ اللهُ عنه أَنَّ أَعرابيًّا قالَ لرسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: مَتَى السَّاعَةُ؟ قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «مَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا؟» قال: حُبُّ اللهِ ورسولِهِ قال: «أَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ» متفقٌ عليه، وهذا لفظ مسلمٍ. وفي روايةٍ لهما: مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا مِنْ كَثِيرِ صَوْمٍ، وَلا صَلاةٍ، وَلا صَدَقَةٍ، ولَكِنِّي أُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a Bedouin said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): When is the Hour? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: The love of Allah and His Messenger. He said: "You will be with those whom you love." Agreed upon, and this is the wording of Muslim. In a narration by both of them: I have not prepared much in the way of fasting, prayer, or charity for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger.

متى السَّاعة؟: أي متى يوم القيامة؟ حبّ اللهِ ورسوله: المراد المحبّة القلبية وآثارها التي تدلّ عليها من طاعة اللهِ ورسوله.
"When is the Hour?": that is, when is the Day of Resurrection? "The love of Allah and His Messenger": what is meant is love in the heart and the effects that indicate it, namely obedience to Allah and His Messenger.

حكمة النبيّ صلّى الله عليه وسلّم في إجابة الرجل الذي سأل عن الوقت فقال له: ما لك ولوقتها، إنّما يهمك التزود والعمل بما ينفعك فيها. فضل حبّ الله تعالى ورسوله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم والصالحين الموصل إلى اللّحاق بهم في دار القرار. يوم القيامة يلتقي كل محبّ بمحبوبه. معيَّة الله للإنسان تكون بالنصر والتوفيق.
The wisdom of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his answer to the man who asked about the time, as though saying to him: What concern is its time to you? What concerns you is preparing provision and acting upon what will benefit you in it. The merit of loving Allah Almighty, His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the righteous, which leads to being joined with them in the abode of permanence. On the Day of Resurrection, every lover will meet the one he loves. Allah's being with a person is through victory and divine enabling.
