عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إن اللهَ تعالى يقولُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامةِ: أَيْنَ المُتَحَابُّونَ بِجَلالِي؟ الْيَوْمَ أُظِلُّهُمْ في ظِلِّي يَومَ لا ظِلَّ إِلاَّ ظِلِّي» رواه مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Exalted, will say on the Day of Resurrection: 'Where are those who loved one another for the sake of My majesty? Today I shall shade them in My shade on a day when there is no shade but My shade.'" [Muslim]
الشرح · explanation
بجلالي: أي تحابوا في الله ولأجل عظمته لا لغرض من أغراض الدنيا، وسؤاله عنهم سبحانه مع علمه بهم إنما هو لينادي بفضلهم في ذلك الموقف.
"For the sake of My majesty": that is, those who loved one another for the sake of Allah and for the sake of His greatness, not for any worldly purpose. Allah's questioning about them, despite His full knowledge of them, is only to proclaim their excellence at that gathering.
