عن مُعَاذٍ رضيَ اللهُ عنه، أَنَّ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وقال: «يَا مُعَاذُ واللهِ، إِنِّي لأُحِبُّكَ، ثُمَّ أُوصِيكَ يَا مُعاذُ لا تَدَعَنَّ في دُبُرِ كُلِّ صلاةٍ تَقُولُ: اللهُم أَعِنِّي على ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ، وحُسنِ عِبَادتِك». رواه أبو داود والنسائي بإسناد صحيح.
Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took him by the hand and said: "O Mu'adh, by Allah, I truly love you. Then I advise you, O Mu'adh, never to fail to say at the end of every prayer: 'O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You well.'" Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i with an authentic chain of narration.

دبر: عقب؛ أي بعد الانتهاء منها. كل صلاة: أي الصلاة مفروضة. شكرك: الشكر على المحسن بما أولاه من المعروف، وهو في الشرع يكون: بالقلب؛ اعترافًا بنعمة الله. باللسان؛ حمدًا لله وإرجاع الفضل له. بالعمل؛ فعلًا للطاعة وتركًا للمعصية. حسن عبادتك: حسن العبادة أن تشتمل على الشروط والأركان والآداب مع الخشوع والإخلاص.
"At the end" (dubur): the close; that is, after finishing it. "Every prayer": meaning the obligatory prayer. "To give thanks to You" (shukrik): thankfulness toward the benefactor for the kindness he has bestowed. In the Sacred Law it is expressed: With the heart, by acknowledging the blessing of Allah. With the tongue, by praising Allah and attributing the favor to Him. With action, by doing acts of obedience and abandoning disobedience. "To worship You well" (husna ibadatik): excellence of worship is that it comprises the conditions, pillars, and proper manners, together with humility and sincerity.

استحباب قراءة هذا الدعاء بعد كل صلاة فرض. في الحديث شاهد على فضل معاذ رضي الله عنه وكمال استقامته. الأسلوب التربوي الحكيم من النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام في ترغيب المتعلم لإقباله على العلم؛ حيث قال له: "والله إني لأحبك" فإنها كلمة تفتح قلب الطالب للإقبال على فعل ما يُدعى إليه. من أحبّ أحدًا استُحبَّ له إخباره أنفعُ الدعاء طلبُ العون على طاعة الله.
The recommendation of reciting this supplication after every obligatory prayer. In the hadith there is evidence of the virtue of Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) and the completeness of his uprightness. The wise educational method of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in encouraging the learner toward seeking knowledge, when he said to him: "By Allah, I truly love you," for this is a word that opens the heart of the student to embrace what he is called to do. Whoever loves someone, it is recommended for him to inform him of it. The most beneficial supplication is asking for help in obeying Allah.
