عن المِقْدَادِ رضيَ اللهُ عنه قال: سَمِعْتُ رسولَ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَقُولُ: «تُدْنَى الشَّمْسُ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ مِنَ الخَلْقِ حتَّى تَكُونَ مِنْهُمْ كَمِقْدَارِ مِيل» قَالَ سُلَيمُ بْنُ عَامرٍ الرَّاوي عنْ المِقْدَاد: فَوَاللهِ؛ مَا أَدْرِي ما يَعْني بِالميلِ، أَمَسَافَةَ الأَرضِ أَمِ المِيل الَّذي تُكْتَحَلُ بِهِ العيْنُ «فَيَكُونُ النَّاسُ عَلَى قَدْرِ أَعْمالِهِمْ في العَرَقِ، فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَكُونُ إِلى كعْبَيْهِ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَكُونُ إِلى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، ومِنْهُمْ منْ  يَكُونُ إِلى حِقْوَيْهِ، ومِنْهُمْ مَنْ يُلْجِمُهُ العَرَقُ إِلجامًا» وَأَشَارَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم بِيدِهِ إِلى فِيهِ. رواه مسلم.

Al-Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "On the Day of Resurrection the sun will be brought close to creation until it is about a mile away from them." Sulaym ibn 'Amir, the narrator from al-Miqdad, said: By Allah, I do not know what he meant by a mile, whether the distance of the earth or the mil with which the eye is anointed. "People will be in sweat according to their deeds: some will be in it up to their ankles, some up to their knees, some up to their waists, and some will be bridled by sweat," and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his hand to his mouth.
