Riyad Al Salihin

Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan, Sakhr ibn Harb (may Allah be pleased with both of them), reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not be persistent in begging. By Allah, if any one of you asks me for something and his asking extracts it from me while I am unwilling to give it, there will be no blessing for him in what I gave him." [Muslim]

Do not be persistent: do not be insistent in begging, which is to ask repeatedly. Unwilling: that is, unwilling to part with that thing to him.

The prohibition of pressing others and compelling them to give through insistence in asking. What is given without willing consent, but rather out of reluctance or embarrassment, is stripped of blessing. What is taken by the sword of shame (i.e., extorted through another's embarrassment) is unlawful, and must be returned.
