عَنْ أبي موسى رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال: قال رسولُ الله صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِنَّ الأشْعَرِيِّينَ إِذَا أَرْملُوا في الْغَزْوِ، أَو قَلَّ طَعَامُ عِيَالِهِم بالمَدِينَةِ، جَمَعُوا ما كَانَ عِندَهُم في ثَوبٍ وَاحدٍ، ثُمَّ اقتَسَمُوهُ بَيْنَهُمْ في إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ بالسَّويَّةِ، فَهُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنهُمْ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the Ash'aris run short of provisions on a military expedition, or the food of their families in Madinah runs low, they gather whatever they have in a single garment, then divide it among themselves equally in a single vessel. They are part of me, and I am part of them." Agreed upon.
الشرح · explanation
الأشعريّون: قبيلة من قبائل اليمن وهم قوم أبي موسى الأشعري. أرملوا: فَرَغَ زَادُهُم، أَو قَارَبَ الفَرَاغَ ولم يبقَ عندهم شيء، وكأن الإنسان الذي صار إلى هذه الحال لم يبق عنده إلا الرمل، ولهذا يقال للمرأة التي فقدت زوجها أرملة لأن عائلها قد مات. في الغزو: أي وقت الخروج لقتال العدو. فهم مني: قريبون منِّي خلقًا وهديًا. وأنا منهم: مبالغة في اتحاد طريقتهم مع طريقته وهديه صلّى الله عليه وسلّم والتوافق في طاعة الله تعالى.
The Ash'aris: a tribe among the tribes of Yemen, the people of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. Run short of provisions (armalu): their provisions are exhausted, or nearly so, and nothing remains with them -- as though the person who reached this state had nothing left but sand (raml); for this reason a woman who loses her husband is called armalah, because her provider has died. On a military expedition: that is, at the time of going out to fight the enemy. They are part of me: they are close to me in character and guidance. And I am part of them: an emphatic expression of the unity of their way with his way and guidance (peace and blessings be upon him), and their agreement in obedience to Allah.
