عَنْ جابرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ وعَلَيْهِ عِمامةٌ سوْداءُ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ .
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered on the day of the Conquest of Mecca wearing a black turban. Reported by Muslim.

The permissibility of wearing black garments. The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing of the turban was a matter of custom and permissible practice. The basic principle is that a person may wear what his people wear, as long as it is not unlawful.
