عنْ أنسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ في حدِيثهِ المشْهورِ في الإسْراءِ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «ثُمَّ صَعِدَ بي جِبْريلُ إلى السّماءِ الدُّنيا، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، فقيلَ: منْ هذا؟ قالَ: جِبْريلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قالَ: مُحمَّدٌ. ثُمَّ صَعِدَ إلى السَّماءِ الثّانِيَةِ والثَّالِثَةِ والرَّابِعَةِ وسَائِرِهِنَّ، وَيُقالُ في بابِ كُلِّ سماءٍ: مَنْ هذا؟ فَيقُولُ: جِبْرِيلُ.» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ .
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), in his well-known hadith about the Night Journey (al-Isra), said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Jibril ascended with me to the lowest heaven and sought to have it opened. It was asked: 'Who is this?' He said: 'Jibril.' It was asked: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' Then he ascended to the second heaven, the third, the fourth, and all the rest, and at the gate of each heaven it was asked: 'Who is this?' and he would say: 'Jibril.'" الشرح · explanation
فاستفتح: أي طلب أن يفتح له. وسائرهن: باقيهن، أي الخامسة والسادسة والسابعة، وسائر الشيء باقيه.
"Sought to have it opened": that is, he requested that it be opened for him. "And all the rest": the remainder of them, meaning the fifth, sixth, and seventh; the "rest" of a thing is its remainder.

أنّ السنّة إذا قيل للمستأذن: مَن أنت؟ أن يقول: فلان فيُعَرّف نفسه باسمه إذا كان يُعرف به. أنّ للسماء أبوابًا حقيقيّة وحفظة موكَّلين بها.
It is the sunnah that when the one seeking permission is asked, "Who are you?" he should give his name, identifying himself by the name he is known by. The heavens have real gates and appointed guardians in charge of them.
