عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمَا، عن النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قالَ: «مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَحْضُرْه أَجَلُهُ، فقالَ عِنْدَهُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ: أَسْأَلُ اللّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشفِيَكَ، إِلَّا عَافَاهُ اللّهُ مِنْ ذلكَ المَرَضِ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ والتِّرْمِذِيُّ وقالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، وقالَ الحاكِمُ: حديثٌ صحيحٌ على شرطِ الْبُخَارِيِّ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits a sick person whose appointed time has not yet come, and says in his presence seven times: 'I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to heal you,' Allah will cure him of that illness." Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith; and al-Hakim said: a sahih (authentic) hadith according to the criterion of al-Bukhari.

لم يحضر أجله: لم يأت وقت موته. العظيم: أي الَّذِي لا يعظم عليه مطلوب.
"Whose appointed time has not come": the time of his death has not arrived. "Al-Azim (the Magnificent)": that is, the One before whom no request is too great.
