عَنْ عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عنْهَا قالتْ: قال رسولُ اللّهِ ِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «الَّذِي يَقرَأُ القُرْآنَ وَهُوَ ماهِرٌ بِهِ معَ السَّفَرةِ الكرَامِ البررَةِ، والَّذِي يقرَأُ القُرْآنَ ويَتَتَعْتَعُ فِيهِ وَهُوَ عَليْهِ شَاقٌّ لهُ أجْرانِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who recites the Qur'an and is skilled in it is with the noble, righteous scribes (angels), and the one who recites the Qur'an, stammering over it and finding it difficult, has two rewards." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

ماهر به: أي يجيد تلاوته ويطبق أحكام تجويده. السفرة: الملائكة، لأنهم يسفرون إلى الرسل برسالات ربهم، أو الملائكة الكتبة الَّذِين يحصون الأعمال، لأنهم بكتابتهم سفرة بين الله تعالى وخلقه. الكرام: لأنهم مطهرون من دنس المعاصي. البررة: أي المطيعين، من البرّ وهو الطاعة والإحسان. يتتعتع: أي يعيا بكلامه، ويتردّد في قراءته، ويثقل على لسانه لضعف حفظه.
"Skilled in it": that is, he recites it excellently and applies the rules of its tajwid. "The scribes (al-safarah)": the angels, because they carry (yasfirun) the messages of their Lord to the Messengers; or the recording angels who tally deeds, because through their writing they are envoys between Allah the Exalted and His creation. "The noble (al-kiram)": because they are purified from the filth of sins. "The righteous (al-bararah)": that is, the obedient, from birr, which means obedience and beneficence. "Stammers (yatata'ta')": that is, he falters in his speech, hesitates in his recitation, and it weighs heavily upon his tongue due to the weakness of his memorization.

فضل من يجيد ويتقن تلاوة القرآن الكريم وأنّه مع السفرة الكرام البررة. أنّ من يتتعتع في قراءة القرآن وهو ثقيل على لسانه له أجران، أجر على قراءته وأجر على مجاهدته في القراءة.
The merit of one who recites the Noble Qur'an excellently and with mastery, and that he is with the noble, righteous scribes. The one who stammers in reciting the Qur'an, finding it heavy on his tongue, has two rewards: a reward for his recitation and a reward for his striving in the recitation.
