Riyad Al Salihin

Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal (the Antichrist)." In another narration: "from the end of Surah al-Kahf." Both were reported by Muslim.

"protected (ʿusima)": safeguarded and preserved. "the Dajjal": he is the Messiah, the Antichrist, the great liar who will emerge at the end of time; his appearance will be a tremendous trial for people, for he will claim divinity and certain extraordinary feats will appear at his hands. For this reason, no prophet was sent but that he warned his people against his trial.

That whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf is protected from the trial of the Messiah, the Antichrist (al-Dajjal); and likewise whoever memorizes and diligently recites the closing verses of al-Kahf, from the words of Allah the Exalted: "Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have the Gardens of Paradise (al-Firdaws) as a lodging" [Surah al-Kahf: 107] to the end of the surah. Perhaps the wisdom in choosing these verses lies in the strength of faith they instill in the heart and the steadfastness they produce, such that one does not waver from it no matter how great the trial or how severe the affliction.
