عنْ أَبي هُرَيْرةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَال: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «أَرأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَنَّ نَهْرًا بِبَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ، هَلْ يَبْقَى مِنْ دَرَنِهِ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالُوا: لا يَبْقَى مِنْ دَرَنِهِ شَيْءٌ قَالَ: «فَكَذَلِكَ مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الخَمْسِ، يَمْحُو اللّهُ بِهِنَّ الْخَطَايَا» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Tell me: if there were a river at the door of one of you in which he bathed five times a day, would any of his dirt remain?" They said: "None of his dirt would remain." He said: "That is the likeness of the five prayers; by them Allah wipes away sins." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
