عَنْ أَبي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رسُولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «المَلائِكَةُ تُصَلِّي عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ مَا دَامَ في مُصَلَّاهُ الَّذِي صَلَّى فِيهِ مَا لمْ يُحْدِثْ؛ تَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ، اغْفِرْ لَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ، ارْحَمْهُ» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angels invoke blessings upon one of you as long as he remains in the place where he prayed, so long as he does not break his wudu, saying: O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him." Reported by al-Bukhari.
الشرح · explanation
الملائكة تصلي: تدعو وتستغفر وتطلب الرحمة. مصلَّاه: مكان صلاته. ما لم يحدث: ما لم ينتقض وضوؤه بخروج ريح منه، وقيل ما لم يتكلم بكلام الدنيا المنهي عنه، كالبيع والشراء أو الغيبة.
"The angels invoke blessings": they supplicate, seek forgiveness, and ask for mercy. "The place where he prayed (musalla)": the spot of his prayer. "So long as he does not break his wudu": so long as his wudu is not nullified by the passing of wind; and it is said: so long as he does not engage in forbidden worldly talk, such as buying and selling or backbiting.
