عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْها قَالتْ: قالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ اللّهَ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى مَيَامِنِ الصُّفُوفِ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بإِسْنادٍ عَلى شرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ، وَفِيهِ رَجُلٌ مُخْتَلَفٌ فِي تَوْثِيقِهِ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon those on the right sides of the rows." Reported by Abu Dawud with a chain that meets the conditions of Muslim, though it contains a narrator over whose reliability there is disagreement.
الشرح · explanation
يصلون: الصلاة من اللّهِ الثناء الحسن المستوجب للرحمة، ومن الملائكة استغفار. ميامن الصفوف: أي عن يمين الإمام.
"They send blessings" (yusallun): the blessing (salah) from Allah is beautiful praise that entails mercy, and from the angels it is the seeking of forgiveness. "The right sides of the rows": that is, to the right of the imam.

أفضلية الوقوف عن يمين الإمام. يسن إذا وصل المأموم المسجد ووجد الناس متوسطين الإمام ووجد فرجة على يمينه وأخرى عن يساره، أن يسد فرجة اليمين، وهذا لا ينافي البدء في وسط الصف وراء الإمام، لأنّ أفضلية المتيامن تبدأ من بعد ذلك.
The superiority of standing to the right of the imam. It is recommended, when a follower reaches the mosque and finds the people positioned around the imam, with a gap on his right and another on his left, that he fill the gap on the right. This does not contradict beginning in the middle of the row behind the imam, because the superiority of the right side begins only after that.
