عَنْ عَبْدِ اللّهِ بْنِ سَلامٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «أيُّهَا النَّاسُ أفْشُوا السَّلامَ، وَأطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ، وَصَلُّوا بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ، تَدْخُلُوا الجَنَّةَ بِسَلامٍ». رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صحيحٌ.
Abdullah ibn Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, spread the greeting of peace, feed [others], and pray at night while people are asleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith.

وصلّوا باللّيل: أي التهجد.
"And pray at night": that is, the tahajjud.

بشارة من التزم بهذه الأمور ودأب عليها. التهجّد في الليل لمن وسائل النجاة يوم القيامة، لما فيه من حرمان النفس لذيذ المنام ابتغاء مرضاة اللّهِ تعالى.
Glad tidings for whoever adheres to these matters and persists in them. The night prayer (tahajjud) is among the means of salvation on the Day of Resurrection, because it involves depriving oneself of the pleasure of sleep in seeking the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
