Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rose from sleep, he would rub his mouth with the siwak. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

"He would rub" (yashusu): al-shaws means rubbing and scrubbing.

The recommendation of using the siwak upon waking from sleep, to remove any change in the mouth's odor that may have arisen from it. The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) etiquette and refined conduct with his Lord: he would use the siwak and freshen his mouth before standing before his Lord.
