عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «تُعْرَضُ الْأَعْمَالُ يَوْمَ الاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ، فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يُعْرَضَ عَمَلِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ» رَوَاهُ التِرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ورَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ الصَّوْمِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Deeds are presented on Monday and Thursday, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith. And Muslim reported it without mention of fasting.

استحباب صوم يوم الاثنين والخميس لأنّهما يومان تعرض فيهما الأعمال. ثبوت عرض الأعمال في يومي الاثنين والخميس فيستحب للعبد إحسان العمل فيهما وأفضل الأعمال الصوم كما ورد في الحديث دلّ مجموع الأحاديث على أنّ هناك ثلاث حالات لرفع الأعمال: الرفع اليومي: عمل الليل في آخره قبل النهار، وعمل النهار في آخره قبل الليل. الرفع الأسبوعي: يومي الاثنين والخميس. الرفع السنوي: في شهر شعبان. إلى أن يحين الأجل وتطوى صحائف الأعمال ويرفع عمل العمر كله.
It is recommended to fast on Monday and Thursday, for they are two days on which deeds are presented. The presentation of deeds on Monday and Thursday is established, so it is recommended for the servant to do good deeds on them; and the best of deeds is fasting, as mentioned in the hadith. The hadiths taken together indicate that there are three occasions for the raising of deeds: The daily raising: the deeds of the night at its end before the day, and the deeds of the day at its end before the night. The weekly raising: on Monday and Thursday. The yearly raising: in the month of Sha'ban. Until the appointed time comes, the records of deeds are folded up, and the deeds of an entire lifetime are raised.
