عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى صَوْمَ الاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make a point of fasting on Monday and Thursday. Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

يتحرى: أي يتوخى ويلتمس مع الحرص والاهتمام.
"Make a point of": that is, he sought and pursued it with keenness and care.

It is recommended to fast on Monday and Thursday. Encouragement to seek out and watch for the meritorious days and times, to strive to attain them, and to exert oneself in them by drawing near to Allah through obedience, worship, and various acts of good.
