عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضَيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمَا: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقِيَ رَكْبًا بِالرَّوْحَاءِ فَقَالَ: «مَنِ الْقَوْمُ؟» قَالُوا: الْمُسْلِمُونَ، قَالُوا: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: «رَسُولُ اللّهِ» فَرَفَعَتِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًا فَقَالَتْ: أَلِهَذا حَجٌّ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met a caravan at al-Rawha and asked: "Who are these people?" They said: "The Muslims." They asked: "Who are you?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah." A woman then lifted up a child and said: "Is there Hajj for this one?" He said: "Yes, and you will have a reward." Reported by Muslim.

لا يجب الحجّ على الصغير لأنّه ليس بمكلف ولو حجّ صح وكان تطوعًا. أَنَّ حجّ الصبي منعقد صحيح يثاب عليه وإن كان لا يجزيه عن حجّة الإسلام، بل يقَع تطوُّعًا. حصول الأجر لمن يصحب الصغير إلى الحجّ.
Hajj is not obligatory upon a minor, since he is not legally accountable; yet if he performs it, it is valid and counts as a voluntary act. The Hajj of a child is validly contracted and rewarded, even though it does not discharge the obligatory Hajj of Islam; rather it counts as a voluntary act. A reward is attained by whoever brings a young child along to Hajj.
