عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُول اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «رَحِمَ اللهُ رَجُلًا سَمْحًا إِذَا بَاعَ، وَإِذَا اشْتَرَى، وَإِذَا اقْتَضَى» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells, when he buys, and when he demands repayment." Reported by al-Bukhari.

سمحًا: سهلًا لينًا. اقتضى: طلب قضاء حقه.
"Lenient (samh)": easy and gentle. "Demands repayment": seeks the settlement of his due.

استحباب المسامحة في البيع والشراء وذلك بأن يترك كل من البائع والمشتري ما يسبب ضجر الآخر وإزعاجه، ولعله من المسامحة أن يزيد المشتري في الثمن وأن يزيد البائع في السلعة. الحثّ على الليونة في طلب قضاء الحقوق واستحباب التنازل عن شيء منها.
The recommendation of leniency in selling and buying, in that each of the seller and buyer avoids what causes the other annoyance and vexation; and it may be part of leniency for the buyer to add to the price and for the seller to add to the goods. Encouragement to gentleness in demanding the settlement of dues, and the recommendation of relinquishing some part of them.
