عَنْ مُعاوِيةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah wills good for someone, He grants him understanding of the religion." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

يفقّهه في الدين: يجعله على معرفة في أحكامه وتعاليمه، والفقه في اللغة: الفهم.
"He grants him understanding of the religion": He makes him knowledgeable in its rulings and teachings. Fiqh (understanding) linguistically means comprehension.
