عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عنْهَا: أنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ: «سُبُّوحٌ، قدُّوسٌ، رَبُّ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in his bowing and prostration: "Perfectly Glorified, Perfectly Holy, Lord of the angels and the Spirit." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
سبوح قدوس: اسمان من أسماء اللّه تعالى يدلان على المبالغة في النزاهة والطهارة عن كل ما لا يليق بجلاله تعالى وكبريائه وعظمته. الروح: جبريل عليه السلام وقيل: إنَّها تَصدُق على الرُّوحِ الَّتِي بها قِوَامُ حياةِ الأحياءِ.
"Subbuh, Quddus (Perfectly Glorified, Perfectly Holy)": two of the names of Allah the Exalted, denoting the utmost transcendence and purity above all that does not befit His majesty, grandeur, and greatness. "The Spirit (al-Ruh)": Gabriel (peace be upon him); and it is said that it applies to the spirit by which the life of living beings is sustained.
