عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عنْهُما: أنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ الرَّبَّ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ، فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for the bowing, therein magnify the Lord (the Mighty and Majestic); and as for the prostration, strive hard in supplication, for it is fitting that you be answered." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
أَمَّا الرُّكوعُ فَعَظِّموا فيهِ الرَّبَّ: يُخصَّص الرُّكوعَ للتَّعظيمِ والثَّناءِ على اللّهِ تعالى. قمن: أي جدير.
"As for the bowing, therein magnify the Lord": the bowing is designated for magnifying and praising Allah the Exalted. "Qamin (fitting)": that is, worthy and deserving.
