Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: When [the battle of] Uhud approached, my father called me during the night and said: "I see myself as one of the first to be killed among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I am not leaving behind anyone dearer to me than you, apart from the person of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I have a debt, so pay it, and treat your sisters well." So we rose in the morning, and he was the first to be killed. I buried another with him in his grave, then my soul was not content to leave him with another, so I exhumed him after six months, and there he was, just as I had laid him — except for his ear. So I placed him in a grave by himself. Reported by al-Bukhari.
