عن أبي بكْرةَ رضي اللَّه عَنْهُ قال: قالَ رسولُ اللَّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «ألا أُنبِّئكُم بأكبر الكَبائِر؟» قُلنَا: بَلَى يا رسول اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «الإشراكُ باللَّه، وعُقُوقُ الوالِديْنِ» وكان مُتَّكِئًا فَجلَس، فقال: «ألا وقَوْلُ الزُّورِ، وشهادةُ الزورِ» فما زال يُكَرِّرُهَا حتى قلنا: لَيْتَهُ سكَت. متفق عليه.
Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Associating partners with Allah, and disobedience to parents." He had been reclining, then he sat up and said: "Beware! And false speech, and false testimony." He kept repeating it until we said [to ourselves]: "Would that he had fallen silent." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

أنبئكم: أخبركم وأعلمكم. الإشراك باللّه: وهو نوعانِ أحدهما: أن يجعَلَ للّهِ نِدًّا ويعبُدَ غَيرَه مِن حَجَرٍ أو شجَرٍ أو غيرِ ذلك، والثاني: وهو الشِّركُ الخَفِيُّ، الرِّياءُ، وهو: ما يتسرَّبُ إلى أعمالِ القُلوبِ وخفايا النُّفوسِ عقوق الوالدين: إيذاؤهما وعدم طاعتهما.
"shall I inform you (unabbiukum)": tell you and make known to you. "associating partners with Allah": it is of two types: the first is that one sets up a rival to Allah and worships other than Him—of stone, tree, or the like; the second is hidden shirk, namely ostentation (riya), which is what creeps into the deeds of the heart and the hidden places of the soul. "disobedience to parents (uquq)": harming them and not obeying them.

التحذير الشديد من قول الزور وشهادة الزور، وعظيم خطرها على الأمة، وشدة عذاب صاحبها يوم القيامة. أنّ أبغض الذنوب إلى اللّه تعالى الإشراك باللّه، ثم عقوق الوالدين، ثم قول الزور وشهادة الزور، وفي إدراجها مع الإشراك باللّه ما يدل على مدى ما فيها من قبح وتنفير، لما يترتب عليها من مفاسد وأضرار جسيمة في المجتمع.
A severe warning against false speech and false testimony, the gravity of their danger to the community, and the severity of the punishment of their perpetrator on the Day of Resurrection. The most hateful of sins to Allah the Exalted is associating partners with Him, then disobedience to parents, then false speech and false testimony; their being placed alongside associating partners with Allah indicates the extent of their repugnance and how much they are to be shunned, because of the grave corruption and harm they bring about in society.
