Abu Barzah Nadlah ibn Ubayd al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: While a young girl was on a she-camel carrying some of the people's baggage, she suddenly caught sight of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the mountain had made the path narrow for them. She said: "Hal! O Allah, curse it!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let no she-camel that carries a curse accompany us." Reported by Muslim.

That what is intended by the prohibition is that this she-camel should not accompany them; it contains no prohibition against selling it, slaughtering it, or riding it other than in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). A warning against cursing, and against accompanying innovators and transgressors, for they are the objects of curses. There is nothing in the hadith to indicate setting the she-camel loose, for there is no sa'ibah (an animal set free to roam) in Islam, and al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) has clarified that.
