عَنْ أَبِي هَرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ أنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ حَمَلَ عَلَيْنَا السِّلاحَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا، وَمَنْ غَشَّنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا«. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى صُبْرَةِ طَعَامٍ، فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِيهَا، فَنَالَتْ أَصَابِعُهُ بَلَلًا، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَا يَا صَاحِبَ الطَّعَامِ؟! » قَالَ: أَصَابَتْهُ السَّمَاءُ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ، قَالَ: «أَفَلا جَعَلْتَهُ فَوْقَ الطَّعَامِ حَتَّى يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ، مَنْ غَشَّنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا».
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever raises weapons against us is not one of us, and whoever cheats us is not one of us." Reported by Muslim. In another narration of his: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a heap of food, and he put his hand into it, and his fingers met with moisture. He said: "What is this, O owner of the food?!" He said: The rain fell upon it, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "Why did you not put it on top of the food so that the people might see it? Whoever cheats us is not one of us."

حمل علينا السلاح: كناية عن البغي والخروج على جماعة المسلمين. فليس منا: أي ليس على هدينا ومن أهل طريقتنا. غشنا: للغش أنواع متعددة، فقد يكون غشًا معنويًا وهو أن تلبس الباطل ثوب الحقّ، وقد يكون غشًا ماديًا كإخفاء العيب في السلعة وخلط الجيد بالرديء، وزيادة السلعة بما ليس منها ليزيد في وزنها. صبرة: ما جمع من الطعام بلا كيل ولا وزن كالحبوب. أصابته السماء: هطلت عليه المطر.
"raises weapons against us": a metaphor for transgression and rebellion against the community of Muslims. "is not one of us": that is, he is not upon our guidance nor among the people of our way. "cheats us": cheating is of various kinds; it may be moral deception, which is to clothe falsehood in the garb of truth, and it may be material cheating, such as concealing a defect in goods, mixing the good with the bad, and adding to goods what is not part of them to increase their weight. "heap": food gathered without measuring or weighing, such as grains. "the rain fell upon it": the rain poured down on it.

تحريم شهر السلاح في وجه المسلم، وتحريم الغشّ في التعامل بين الناس، ويجب على البائع أن يبين للمشتري العيب في السلعة إن كانت معيبة. الحاكم مسؤول عن مراقبة الأسواق، ومعاقبة الغشاشين الذين يأكلون أموال الناس بالباطل. تعمّد الغشّ إضرارًا بالمسلمين يجعل مرتكبه من أعداء الأمّة والخارجين عليها.
The prohibition of brandishing a weapon in the face of a Muslim, and the prohibition of cheating in dealings between people; the seller must disclose to the buyer any defect in the goods if they are defective. The ruler is responsible for supervising the markets and punishing cheaters who devour people's wealth unjustly. Deliberate cheating to harm Muslims makes its perpetrator one of the enemies of the community and among those who rebel against it.
