حديث 1589·الباب 279 · باب النهي عن الافتخار والبغي·رياض الصالحين · Riyad Al Salihin

عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ اللّهَ تَعَالَى أَوْحَى إِلَيَّ: أَنْ تَوَاضَعُوا حَتَّى لا يَبْغِيَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ، وَلا يَفْخَرَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.

Iyad ibn Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah the Exalted has revealed to me that you should be humble, so that no one transgresses against another, and no one boasts over another." Reported by Muslim.

الشرح · explanation

أوحى إلي أن تواضعوا: أي أمرني وإياكم بالتواضع والمبالغة فيه. يبغي: يستطيل ويبالغ في الظلم والتَّعَدِّي.

"He has revealed to me that you should be humble": that is, He commanded me and you to be humble and to go to great lengths in it. "transgresses": he behaves overbearingly and goes to excess in oppression and aggression.

النهي عن الافتخار والبغي، والتحذير من الاغترار بالمال أو الجاه، أو أي شيء من متاع هذه الدنيا الفانية. الناس سواسية في الإسلام ولا فرق لأعجمي على عربي إلا بالتقوى.

The prohibition of boasting and transgression, and a warning against being deceived by wealth, status, or anything of the goods of this perishing world. People are equal in Islam; there is no superiority for a non-Arab over an Arab except through piety (taqwa).
