عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «ثَلاثَةٌ لا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللّهُ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ، وَلا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَلا يُزَكِّيهِمْ، وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ» قَالَ: فَقَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلاثَ مِرَارٍ، قَالَ أَبُو ذرٍّ: خَابُوا وَخَسِرُوا، مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ، قَالَ «الْمُسْبِلُ، وَالْمَنَّانُ، وَالْمُنْفِقُ سِلْعَتَهُ بِالْحَلِفِ الْكَاذِبِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُ: «الْمُسْبِلُ إِزَارَهُ» يَعْنِي: الْمُسْبِلَ إِزَارَهُ وَثَوْبَهُ أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ لِلْخُيَلاَءِ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three (types of people) Allah will not speak to on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them, nor purify them, and for them is a painful punishment." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it three times. Abu Dharr said: They are ruined and lost; who are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "The one who lets his garment trail (out of pride), the one who reminds people of his favors, and the one who sells his goods with a false oath." Reported by Muslim. In another narration of his: "the one who lets his lower garment trail," meaning the one who lets his lower garment and his robe hang below the ankles out of arrogance.

لا يكلمهم اللّّه: أي لا يكلمهم، أو لا يكلمهم بما يسرهم. ولا ينظر إليهم: نظرة رحمة ومغفرة. المسبل: المرخي ثوبه خيلاء. المنان: الذي يكفر المن بذكر تعدد نعمه على الناس. سلعته: متاعه.
"Allah will not speak to them": that is, He will not speak to them at all, or will not speak to them with what pleases them. "nor look at them": with a look of mercy and forgiveness. "the one who lets his garment trail": the one who lets his garment hang down out of arrogance. "the one who reminds of his favors": the one who nullifies his favor by recounting his many blessings upon people. "his goods": his merchandise.

The prohibition of reminding people of one's favors, because of the harm and humiliation it causes the one favored. The prohibition of letting garments trail if it is out of arrogance; if it is not out of arrogance, then it is disliked (makruh) by way of avoidance. The prohibition of the false oath for the sake of making a sale.
