استحباب الجزم في الدعاء والطلب من اللّه تعالى، وكراهة التعليق على المشيئة، لما في ذلك من إيهام الاستغناء عن حصول المطلوب، وأنّه يستوي عنده حصوله وعدمه، وأنّه يستغني أيضًا عن المطلوب منه، وأيضاً لما فيه من إيهام التخفيف عليه سبحانه وهو لا مكره له ولا يصعب عليه شيء. الاجتهاد في الدعاء والإلحاح في الطلب من الله تعالى من خيري الدنيا والآخرة مع الرجاء في الإجابة، وعدم القنوط من رحمته فإنّه كريم لا يخيب من سأله. من كان يعلم من نفسه تقصيرًا في جنب اللّه تعالى فلا يمنعه ذلك من الدعاء والطلب منه سبحانه لأنّه عفو كريم، وليجتهد في تدارك تقصيره.

It is recommended to be firm and resolute in supplication and in asking of Allah, Exalted is He, and it is disliked to make [the request] conditional upon [His] will, because that gives the false impression of indifference to whether the request is granted—as if its fulfillment and non-fulfillment were equal to him—and of being independent of the One being asked; and also because it falsely implies making things easy for Him, Glorified is He, whereas there is none who can compel Him and nothing is difficult for Him. Striving in supplication and persisting in asking Allah, Exalted is He, for the good of this world and the Hereafter, while hoping for a response and not despairing of His mercy—for He is Generous and does not disappoint whoever asks Him. Whoever knows himself to be falling short in his duty toward Allah, Exalted is He, should not let that prevent him from supplicating and asking of Him, Glorified is He, for He is Pardoning and Generous; and let him strive to make up for his shortcoming.
