عَنِ ابْنِ عُمرَ رَضِيَ اللّه عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم صَلَّى العِشَاءَ في آخِرِ حَيَاتِهِ، فَلمَّا سَلَّم، قَالَ: «أَرَأَيْتَكُمْ لَيْلَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ؟ فَإِنَّ على رَأْسِ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ لا يَبْقَى مِمَّنْ هُوَ عَلى ظَهْرِ الأَرْضِ اليَوْمَ أَحدٌ» متفقٌ عليه.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Isha in the last part of his life, and when he had made the taslim, he said: "Do you see this night of yours? At the turn of one hundred years from now, none who is on the face of the earth today will remain." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

آخر حياته: ورد أنه كان قبل وفاته صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم بشهر. مائة سنة: أي تأتي بعد هذه الليلة. ممن هو على ظهر الأرض: قيل المراد عامة الإنس، وقيل ممن يرونه ويعرفونه من الناس، وكان كما أخبر صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم فإنّ آخر من ضبط ممّن كان موجودًا أبو الطفيل عامر بن وائلة، وهو آخر الصحابة موتًا، وغاية ما قيل فيه إنّه مات سنة مائة وعشرة وذلك رأس مائة سنة من مقالته صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم.
"In the last part of his life": it is reported that this was a month before his death (peace and blessings be upon him). "One hundred years": that is, coming after this night. "Of those who are on the face of the earth": it is said that what is meant is mankind in general, and it is said [it means] those among the people who saw and knew him. And it came to pass just as he foretold (peace and blessings be upon him): the last person recorded to have been alive [then] was Abu al-Tufayl Amir ibn Wathila, the last of the Companions to die; the most that is said of him is that he died in the year one hundred and ten, which is the turn of one hundred years from his statement (peace and blessings be upon him).
