عَنْ أبي هُريْرَةَ رضي اللّه عَنْهُ، قَال: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «مَنْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ ريْحَانٌ، فَلا يَرُدَّهُ، فَإنَّهُ خَفيفُ المَحْملِ، طَيِّبُ الرِّيحِ» رواهُ مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is offered rayhan (sweet basil), let him not refuse it, for it is light to carry and sweet of scent." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
ريحان: نبت له ريح طيب. ومثله الطيب. المحمل: الحمل.
"Rayhan": a plant that has a pleasant fragrance; and perfume is likewise. "Al-mahmil (the carrying)": the load, that which is carried.
