عَنْ أبي هُريْرَةَ رضي اللّه عنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «ثَلاثَةٌ لا يُكَلِّمُهُمْ اللّه يوْمَ الْقِيَامةِ، وَلا يُزَكِّيهِمْ، وَلا ينْظُرُ إلَيْهِمْ، ولَهُمْ عذَابٌ أليمٌ: شَيْخٌ زَانٍ، ومَلِكٌ كَذَّابٌ، وَعَائِل مُسْتَكْبِرٌ» رواهُ مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three whom Allah will not speak to on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them, nor look at them, and for them is a painful punishment: an old man who commits adultery, a king who lies, and a poor man who is arrogant." الشرح · explanation
ثلاثة: أي ثلاثة أصناف من الناس. لا يزكيهم: لا يطهرهم من الذنوب. لا ينظر إليهم: أي نظر رحمة.
"Three": that is, three categories of people. "Nor purify them": He will not cleanse them of their sins. "Nor look at them": that is, with a look of mercy.

كراهية اللّه سبحانه لهؤلاء الأصناف من الناس. خصّ هؤلاء الثلاثة بالوعيد المذكور، لأنّ كلًا منهم ألزم نفسه المعصية مع عدم الضرورة إليها، فأشبه إقدامهم عليها بالمعاندة والاستخفاف بحق اللّه تعالى وقصد معصيته.
Allah's (Glorified is He) hatred for these categories of people. These three were singled out for the mentioned threat because each of them bound himself to sin without any necessity compelling him to it, so their committing it resembles obstinacy, contempt for the right of Allah the Exalted, and the deliberate intent to disobey Him.
