Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayhan, Jayhan, the Euphrates, and the Nile are each among the rivers of Paradise." Reported by Muslim.

The virtue of these rivers; perhaps the aspect of their virtue is the goodness of their water and the spread of Islam around them, so in this respect they resemble the water of Paradise. Al-Suyuti said: Rather, the matter is upon its literal meaning, and they have a source from Paradise; and Allah knows best the reality of His creation.
