عن أَبِي هريرة رضي اللّه عنه، عن النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «أعْذَرَ اللّهُ إلى امْرِئٍ أخَّرَ أجلَه حتى بلَغَ سِتِّينَ سنةً» رواه البخارى.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: "Allah has left no excuse for a person whose death He defers until he reaches the age of sixty." Narrated by al-Bukhari.

أَعذَرَ الله إلى امرِئٍ: لَمْ يتْرُكْ لَه عُذْرًا إذ أمْهَلَهُ هذِهِ المُدَّةَ، وأَعْذَرَ الرَّجُلُ إذا بلغَ الغاية في الْعُذْرِ، والمعنى أنّه لم يبق له اعتذار أن يقول لو مُدَّ لي في الأجل لفعلت ما أُمرتُ به، وأنّ اللّه تعالى لم يترك للعبد سببًا للاعتذار يتمسك به.
"Allah has left no excuse for a person" (a'dhara Allahu ila imri'in): He has left him no grounds for excuse, having given him this long duration of life. A'dhara means to reach the utmost extent in having an excuse. The meaning is that no excuse remains for him to say: 'Had my life been extended, I would have done what I was commanded.' Allah the Most High has left the servant no grounds for excuse to cling to.

من أُعطيَ عمرًا مديدًا وكان يعيش في مجتمع يستطيع فيه أن يُؤَدي العبادات والطاعات ولم يفعل ذلك، فليس له عُذر في تقصيره. إذا عمَّر الإنسان حتى بلغ ستين سنة، فقد أَقام اللّه عزّ وجلّ عليه الحجّة، ونفى عنه العذر؛ لأنّ ستّين سنة يعيش الإنسان فيها، يعرف من آيات اللّه ما يعرف، ولا سيّما إذا كان ناشئًا في بلد إسلامي. عدم التسويف في الأعمال إذا قارب الإنسان سنّ الستين. أن اللّه تعالى لا يُعاقِب إلّا بعد إقامة الحجّة. الإشارة إلى أنّ استكمال الستين مظنّة لدُنو الأجل.
Whoever has been given a long life and lives in a society where he is able to perform acts of worship and obedience, yet fails to do so, has no excuse for his shortcoming. When a person lives until the age of sixty, Allah the Almighty has established the proof against him and removed his excuse, for in sixty years of life a person comes to know the signs of Allah — especially if he grew up in a Muslim land. One should not procrastinate in performing good deeds when approaching the age of sixty. Allah the Most High does not punish except after establishing the proof. An indication that reaching sixty is a likely point for the approach of one's appointed end.
