عن أبي ذَرٍّ رضي اللّه عنه قال: قال لي النبيُّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم: «لا تَحْقِرنَّ مِن المَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا ولَوْ أَنْ تَلْقَى أخَاكَ بِوَجْهٍ طَلِيقٍ» رواه مسلم.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: "Do not belittle any act of kindness, even if it is meeting your brother with a cheerful face." Narrated by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
لا تَحقِرنَّ: لا تُهِنْ قَدرَه عندك، أو لا تَستقلَّه. طليق: وفي رواية طلق، أي مبتسمًا مستبشرًا منبسطًا.
"Do not belittle" (la tahqiranna) means do not regard it as insignificant or consider it too small. "Cheerful" (taliq), and in another narration "talq," meaning smiling, joyful, and with an open expression.

يدخل في عموم هذا الحديث ما لا يُحصى من الأعمال الصالحة التي ينبغي على المسلم أن يحرص على فعلها بنفسه، أو الإعانة على فعلها. ينهى الرسول صلّى اللّه عليه وسلم عن التقليل من شأن المعروف، أيًّا كان مقداره. استحباب إيناس الآخرين وإدخال السرور عليهم، لِمَا في ذلك من تحقيق الألفة بين المسلمين. عدم الاستهانة بأي عمل ما دام من وجوه الخير. العمل اليسير من المعروف قد يكون كبيرًا عند اللّه عزّ وجلّ، وذلك بحسب النية فلربما عظُم العمل بسبب النية الصالحة؛ ورُبَّ عمل كبير تصغِّره نيةٌ غيرُ خالصة.
This hadith encompasses countless righteous deeds that a Muslim should be eager to perform himself or to help others perform. The Messenger (peace be upon him) forbids us from underestimating any act of kindness, no matter how small. It is recommended to show warmth to others and bring joy to them, as this strengthens the bonds of brotherhood among Muslims. No act of goodness, however small, should be looked down upon. A small act of kindness may be great in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, depending on the intention. A deed may become great because of a sincere intention, and many a great deed is diminished by an insincere intention.
