عنْ جابرٍ رضي اللّه عنه قال: قال رسولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «كُلُّ مَعرُوفٍ صدقَةٌ» رواه البخاري، ورواه مسلم مِن رواية حذَيفَةَ رضي اللّه عنه.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Every act of kindness is a charity." Narrated by al-Bukhari, and Muslim narrated it from the report of Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him).

كُلُّ معروف: كلُّ فعلٍ أو قولٍ يُعرَف حُسنُه بالشرع والعقل، ويتعارف الناس على حسنِه. صدقَةٌ: المراد ثواب الصدقة.
"Every act of kindness" (ma'ruf) refers to every deed or word whose goodness is recognized by Islamic law and sound reason, and which people commonly acknowledge as good. "Charity" (sadaqah) refers to carrying the reward of charity.

أن كل ما يفعله المؤمن من أعمال البرّ والخير له ثواب وأجر كثواب الصدقة وأجرها. الحثّ على فعل الخير على قدر المستطاع، وأنّه لا ينبغي للمسلم أن يحتقر شيئًا من المعروف. يسر الشريعة واستيعابها للناس كافة؛ ففعل المعروف وتحصيل الثواب لا يختص بالأغنياء.
Every act of righteousness and goodness that a believer performs carries a reward equal to that of charity. Encouragement to do good as much as one is able, and that a Muslim should never belittle any act of kindness. The ease of the Islamic law and its inclusiveness of all people, for doing good and earning reward is not exclusive to the wealthy.
