عن جابر رضي اللّه عنه قال: قال رسول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «ما مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَغْرِسُ غَرسًا إلّا كانَ ما أُكِلَ مِنْهُ لهُ صدقةً، وما سُرِقَ مِنْه لَه صدقَةً، ولا يرْزَؤُه أَحَدٌ إلّا كَانَ له صدقةً» رواه مسلم. • وفي رواية له: «فَلا يغْرِسُ الْمُسْلِمُ غرسًا، فَيَأكُلَ مِنْهُ إِنسانٌ ولا دابّةٌ ولا طَيرٌ إلّا كانَ له صدقَةً إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامة». • وفي رواية له: «لا يغْرِسُ مُسلِمٌ غَرْسًا، ولا يَزْرعُ زَرْعًا، فيأْكُلَ مِنْه إِنْسانٌ وَلا دابَّةٌ ولا شَيْءٌ إلّا كَانَتْ لَهُ صدقةً». ورويَاه جميعًا مِنْ رواية أَنَسٍ رضي اللَّه عنه.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "No Muslim plants a tree except that whatever is eaten from it is counted as charity for him, whatever is stolen from it is charity for him, and no one takes from it except that it is counted as charity for him." Narrated by Muslim. In another narration: "No Muslim plants a tree from which a person, an animal, or a bird eats except that it is counted as charity for him until the Day of Resurrection." In another narration: "No Muslim plants a tree or sows a crop from which a person, animal, or anything else eats, except that it is counted as charity for him." Both (al-Bukhari and Muslim) narrated it from the report of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
الشرح · explanation
يغرس: الغرس للأشجار، والزرع لغيرها من النبات. يرْزَؤُهُ: أي يَنْقُصه ويأخذ منهُ.
"Plants" — planting (ghars) applies to trees, while sowing (zar') applies to other plants and crops. "Takes from it" (yarzau'hu) means diminishes it and takes from it.

فضيلة الغرس، وفضيلة الزرع، وأنّ أجر فاعلي ذلك مستمر ما دام الغراس والزرع، وما توَلَّد منه إلى يوم القيامة. الحثّ على الغرس والزراعة، وأنّهما من الأعمال التي لا ينقطع فيها الثواب بموت فاعلها. السعي في تحصيل النفع لمخلوقات اللّه تعالى وتيسير أمورهم وقضاء حوائجهم. يثاب المسلم على ما سُرق من ماله، أو ما غُصب منه، أو أُتلف منه، إذا صَبر واحتسب ذلك عند اللّه تعالى.
The virtue of planting trees and the virtue of cultivating crops, and that the reward for those who do so continues as long as the plants and crops remain, along with whatever grows from them, until the Day of Resurrection. Encouragement to plant and cultivate, as these are among the deeds whose reward does not cease with the death of the one who performed them. Striving to provide benefit to Allah's creation, ease their affairs, and fulfill their needs. A Muslim is rewarded for what is stolen from his property, or what is taken by force, or what is destroyed, if he is patient and seeks his reward from Allah, the Most High.
